Cosmic Top Secret – visual identity
Cosmic Top Secret is an autobiographical game about “T”, who investigates what her father did for the Danish Intelligence Agency during the Cold War. It is a game about secrets, spying, family relations, and coming of age. We were asked to suggest an identity for the game.
Our main idea is the concept of “redaction” – the removal of text as employed in censorship and partial releases of confidential documents. Whenever Cosmic Top Secret communicates, this is what to do: 1) Write whatever text is needed for the press release, invitation, poster. 2) Redact all non-essential information – block it out with thick, black lines. 3) The more you remove, the better. 4) What’s left is the important information in a striking, distinct format that elicits curiosity, and clearly communicates secrecy, spying, etc.
For the logo, we proposed a modified version of the iconic Cosmic Top Secret stamp (that really does exist), already used in the game, but not as a logo. Based on scans, we’ve reconstructed and slightly modified it to fit the game.
Cosmic Top Secret was released for iOS and the web late 2015. Read more and sign up for news on cosmictopsecretgame.com
