Purity – Book cover, Gyldendal
Jonathan Franzen’s novel Purity has multiple storylines spanning a handful of countries and about fifty years. That might be the reason why all editions (that I have been able to find) so far are either completely abstract, or feature just a woman’s face, presumably that of Purity Taylor, the eponymous main character.
This second edition in Danish has a Purity Tailor on it, but also tries to illustrate some of the novel’s many themes: Surveillance, long-ranging and surprising interconnectedness, modern America, faraway lands. Printet on uncoated paper with the text on the front page in gold foil.
