Silver Theory Editions – logo
Silver Theory Editions does hand made museum grade printing and other high quality photo lab work for demanding photographers. Among the clients is Magnum member Jacob Aue Sobol. Silver Theory Editions is run by Andreas Olesen.
The silver in the name refers to silver halides, the light-sensitive chemicals used in photographic film and paper. We’ve designed a logo that is a schematic representation of a silver lattice in a black circle. It refers directly to the matter at hand – silver, photographic work. It also has satisfyingly ambiguous qualities: It can look almost menacing – one could imagine something like this to be the symbol of a totalitarian regime – but the next moment it feels calm, harmonic, almost poetic. This internal conflict keeps the logo interesting much longer than if no ambiguity was present.
