Stuff: High-speed photos
A series of six high-speed photos of bullets impacting with objects. Shot in complete darkness with a .36 Smith & Wesson and lighted with a very fast sound-activated flash.
Consumer goods in catalogues and on screens are well lit, styled, photoshopped to perfection – almost revered, treated as if buying them would make a difference to one’s life that goes far beyond their practical value. And yes, they can be beautiful and alluring. But, we argue, they are much more beautiful in the moment they are destroyed, shards flying, before coming to rest as a pattern of glass or plastic fragments. In this state they’ll also remind you that everything breaks eventually. The perfect home, that lovely bowl, the shiny toy, you yourself, are just a moment away from falling apart. Stuff is no road to salvation.
Each photo printed with archival ink on acid free paper in 5 signed and numbered copies (that’ll also tear and crumble soonish). Size: 90 x 90 cm.
